A journey through South Africa, at a critical moment in history.

A cinematic journey through South Africa: as a Dutch-South-African filmmaker, I ask myself the question ‘am I a racist, having grown up in a racist country?’ Therefore I embark on a journey, from Cape Town to the heart of South Africa, to the towns whose ‘white’ names are about to be erased from the map. What contradictory feelings do I have regarding my country; the new black elite and the growing recently impoverished whites? Is there a future for us in the new South Africa?

“Having grown up in a racist country, am I a racist?”

A film by Saskia Vredeveld
Production: Pieter van Huijstee (The Netherlands) & Underdog Productions (South Africa)
